What is BioFlex Laser Therapy?

BioFlex laser therapy is a low-light laser system which creates a Photobiomodulation effect on damaged muscles or soft tissues. It is quite similar to the analogy of photosynthesis where plants use light to grow. In the case of laser therapy, damaged cells use the light energy emitted during the process to repair, heal and function properly. Physiotherapists often use this in combination with other treatments to stimulate healing, cell repair and regrowth.

At Legend Physiotherapy & Wellness, we offer the most advanced and state-of-the-art BioFlex Laser Therapy in Abbotsford to our patients. We focus on healing the core of the problem and not just the symptoms, thereby assuring you of long-term recovery.

How Does It Work?

All cells in the human body consist of a special light-sensitive protein called cytochrome c. This protein helps the damaged cells and tissues to repair themselves without the use of drugs or surgeries. So, the low-intensity laser targets these proteins to stimulate the optimal functioning of your cells and bring you relief from chronic pain or discomfort.

Healing can be time-consuming. So, physiotherapists may prescribe this therapy to trigger your healing process so you can get back to doing the things you love. It treats a wide array of muscle, nerve and joint injuries. The laser interacts with the photoreceptors in your body to create positive effects on your cell growth, repair and metabolism. Whether you want to heal from injuries or recover from chronic pain, the
low-level laser therapy can be a suitable treatment for you.

Is Laser Therapy Painful?

No, the therapy is painless and non-invasive. This unique treatment option provides a safe and cost-effective remedy to pain caused by various conditions and injuries. Some patients feel a slight “warming” when the laser is applied and the skin may feel warm for a short time after your appointment. It, however, doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable and is temporary.

The physio team at Legend are extremely skillful and genuinely care about their patients. Both Jodh and Jaspreet have been extremely helpful in my post ACL/ PCL knee surgery rehab and have been key in helping me reach a 80 degree flex after 6 weeks of surgery. Their new centre is also more spacious and their admin team has made improvements in the overall office cleanliness. Will share another post after my next 12 weeks of rehab journey.
