What is Massage Therapy?

Massage therapy is a non-invasive treatment option used to treat musculoskeletal conditions or soft tissue injuries. Our registered massage therapists are licensed professionals who acquire the knowledge and skills through years of training and education to relieve your symptoms. They assess the injury and use the right technique and pressure to manipulate the affected muscles. Consistent sessions bring you relief though you may feel some temporary soreness initially.

Whether you are experiencing muscle stiffness or chronic pain, massage therapy can treat the problem and restore your active lifestyle. Have a word with us to know which is the right therapy for you.

Different Types of Massage Therapy Techniques

Each type of therapeutic massage serves a specific purpose and treats particular injuries. So, the professional examine your health conditions first to determine the right techniques for you.

Swedish Massage Therapy

This one is suitable for pain management, better blood circulation and flexibility. It consists of friction, vibration, long strokes, shaking, tapping and percussion motions.

Deep Tissue Massage

This one consists of deep strokes that treat the inner layers of connective tissue and muscles. It treats a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries.

Sports Massage Therapy

The goal of this therapy is to protect and treat all the areas that are mostly involved in the sports activity. Athletes can boost their physical performance with this therapy.

Craniosacral Therapy

The purpose of craniosacral therapy is to relieve tension from the central nervous system and reduce pain. It’s a gentle hands-on technique that boosts your health.

Myofascial Release Therapy

Fascia is the part between the underlying structure of bones and muscles and the skin. It may become restricted due to poor posture, trauma, stress or injuries. Myofascial release therapy helps relieve this restriction and protects the fascia.

Symptoms Treated By Massage Therapists

  • Fibromyalgia
  • Headaches
  • Nerve pain
  • Soft tissue injuries
  • Sports injuries
  • Stress and anxiety
  • TMJ pain
  • Upper back and neck pain

How Many Sessions Do You Need?

The number of sessions depends on your injury and health goals. Typically, 3 to 6 sessions  serve the purpose on a bi-weekly basis. You may, however, need one session every two weeks for a single health problem. Let the massage therapist assess your condition and prescribe the accurate number of sessions you need for quick recovery.

The physio team at Legend are extremely skillful and genuinely care about their patients. Both Jodh and Jaspreet have been extremely helpful in my post ACL/ PCL knee surgery rehab and have been key in helping me reach a 80 degree flex after 6 weeks of surgery. Their new centre is also more spacious and their admin team has made improvements in the overall office cleanliness. Will share another post after my next 12 weeks of rehab journey.
