What is Massage Therapy?

Massage therapy is a non-invasive treatment option used to treat musculoskeletal conditions or soft tissue injuries. Our registered massage therapists are licensed professionals who acquire the knowledge and skills through years of training and education to relieve your symptoms. They assess the injury and use the right technique and pressure to manipulate the affected muscles. Consistent sessions bring you relief though you may feel some temporary soreness initially.

Whether you are experiencing muscle stiffness or chronic pain, massage therapy can treat the problem and restore your active lifestyle. Have a word with us to know which is the right therapy for you.

Different Types of Massage Therapy Techniques

Each type of therapeutic massage serves a specific purpose and treats particular injuries. So, the professional examine your health conditions first to determine the right techniques for you.

Swedish Massage Therapy

This one is suitable for pain management, better blood circulation and flexibility. It consists of friction, vibration, long strokes, shaking, tapping and percussion motions.

Deep Tissue Massage

This one consists of deep strokes that treat the inner layers of connective tissue and muscles. It treats a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries.

Sports Massage Therapy

The goal of this therapy is to protect and treat all the areas that are mostly involved in the sports activity. Athletes can boost their physical performance with this therapy.

Craniosacral Therapy

The purpose of craniosacral therapy is to relieve tension from the central nervous system and reduce pain. It’s a gentle hands-on technique that boosts your health.

Myofascial Release Therapy

Fascia is the part between the underlying structure of bones and muscles and the skin. It may become restricted due to poor posture, trauma, stress or injuries. Myofascial release therapy helps relieve this restriction and protects the fascia.

Symptoms Treated By Massage Therapists

  • Fibromyalgia
  • Headaches
  • Nerve pain
  • Soft tissue injuries
  • Sports injuries
  • Stress and anxiety
  • TMJ pain
  • Upper back and neck pain

How Many Sessions Do You Need?

The number of sessions depends on your injury and health goals. Typically, 3 to 6 sessions  serve the purpose on a bi-weekly basis. You may, however, need one session every two weeks for a single health problem. Let the massage therapist assess your condition and prescribe the accurate number of sessions you need for quick recovery.

I was so impressed with Amrit Sidhu during my recent massage appointment! She was very thorough, did a great initial assessment and was able to provide some insight into the causes of my pain. The massage was excellent and she hit all the right spots with all the right pressure. Following the massage she took the time to provide some personalized exercises and stretches to help until the next time I see her. She is everything I’m looking for in an RMT and I highly recommend her!!

Edit: I had a much better experience my second time back. They went out of their way to make things right, as well as placed me with someone better suited to treat my injury. I was blown away by how much new information Sangram Singh was able to deduce about my condition on the spot, and create a treatment plan. It was so relaxing that I almost fell asleep, and the time flew by. I definitely felt my treatment was really important to him and my input mattered, and I really appreciate it. I was able to stand straighter after the appointment, and booked in for another one. I actually see a brighter future for my health now, and can't wait to see how I feel after the next appointment. Thank you to the Legend team:)Original: I was really hoping to have a better experience for my first massage, but it just wasn't at all what I was hoping. An hour before, I had my first Chiro appointment at Cheam Wellness, and in that 15 minute appointment, my muscles got extensively worked more than any point of the 45 minute one at Legend. I came in due to a back injury, but so little pressure was applied that I barely felt anything most of the appointment, it just felt too casual/surface, and not directed towards my pain that I discussed. Dave had injured his back the day before and did have to sit throughout the appointment, which I understand and am so sorry to hear, but I think it did affect the quality of the massage and was a bit disappointing. He was really chatty, which would be nice in some circumstances, but I really only felt pressure applied in the quiet lulls, which just makes me feel like his focus wasn't on my treatment, which sucks because he was really nice - but as I mentioned I came in for a back injury that I've been waiting 2 years to have benefits to get treatment for, and was hoping to feel some type of relief. I hate having to leave a bad review, but I definitely won't be going back to him sadly, as that appointment used over 1/6th of my benefit limit for the year, and I feel quite ripped off. I didn't feel comfortable asking for more pressure to be applied because he didn't ask either and speaking up for myself can be hard as an Autistic woman in a new situation, but I really wish I had. He was a really nice guy though and I wish him the best.
